Sunday Sessions
It was only 2 weeks ago when I DJed for Sunday Sessions. This is my second time performing for SS, and each time I am very honored to be able to have a space to play music in such a relaxing, and energetically charging event.
The sun was sunning real hard, and even though parking was a bit of a walk - every single one of us brought chairs, blankets, snacks, etc just to be together, in the safe oasis we like to call Sunday Sessions. I met Wyldflower a couple of years ago via a mutual friend. We both love good music, and Im aaaaalways hyping her up (she too clean). I am so grateful that they saw me perform at My Oh My back when the venue was still open for us, bc that is when she said that she’d love 4 me to DJ for Sunday Sessions one day. <3
Here’s our interview with her last year!
Cierra, also known by their DJ alias, Wyldflower, is the original creator of Sunday Sessions, with lots of support (shout out Schi + growing team!), they’ve been able to create a community that always shows up. Will do the walk, will carry the load, will be there. It is amazing. Photo below taken by Naya Papayabis.
Sunday Sessions has become a central hub for people of color in ATX. The goal was simple… promote health and wellness in a fun, and safe space for black and brown people, and always outdoors when the sun feels delicious.

There is occasional markets, hoola-hoops, doggies running around, dancers freestyling, black and brown queer couples going on dates, friends having picnics, families letting the kiddos skip around, you name it. I could not possibly tell you a single place that has this kind of energy, that curates and promotes such wellness for the mind, body, and soul.
We don’t wanna lose this, y’all. I dont want this too be a “its too late” typa thing.
2 weeks ago, Wyldflower said if they can’t meet their fundraiser goal, Sunday Sessions is on ice. We can’t let that happen.
